|Title||Portrait of Portrait of Susan Blunt|
|Description||Portrait of Susan Baker Blunt. Mrs. Blunt was born in Thornton's Ferry, NH on May 15, 1828, the fourth child of Robert Baker of Derryfield (prior name of Manchester) and Margaret Patten of Bedford, NH. She died on January 1924 in West Covina, Ca. at the age of 95. When she was 85 (1913), at the urging of a younger brother, she wrote her reminiscences (Susan Blunt Journal) of growing up in a rural setting on the onset of the industrial age. At the behest of the Manchester HIstoris Association, Francis Mason, PH.D. edited this journal into book form - "Childish Things" The Reminiscense of Suan Baker Blunt. In 1838, after the death of her grandfather, the family moved back to Manchester to run the 75 acre family farm. Her father, Robert Baker built the first school of Manchester's "suburban district" - the original Bakersville School. She was 80 years old when this portrait was taken.|
