Wooden polar bear sign, 6 feet high and 2" thick. Inscription: "ICE CREAM SODAS 5 ¢" This sign stood outside the donor's father's Drug Store on the southeast corner of Hall Street and Lake Avenue. The paw of one hind leg is on lower step, and the other on step above. Held in place with iron pieces.
Made ca. 1900. The woodwork by Herbert Dunbar and the painting by William McLeod, both of whom were members of Engine No. 3 on Lake Ave. In 1952 the store was owned by Edgar Goulet. "Everyone waiting for the trolleys for the lake stood by the bear."
