Group of employees outside Foster Beef Company, 409-419 Elm Street, Manchester. Joseph Gladysz is third from left in the back row; his supervisor is on the left end: Anthony Maciolek. Founded in 1914 in Boston, MA, the business moved from Granite Street to this Elm Street location in 1938. Known for its Mellogold Franks, it wholesaled beef, lamb, veal, and butter throughout southern New Hampshire and Vermont. It also manufactured sausage, smoked ham, shoulders and bacon. The business closed its doors in the late 1970s. |
